Learning Points for Presentations and Sharing

Share your experience. Inspire and inform others.

It is a wonderful experience to go on a mission trip. Not only do you bless the people that you served and came in contact with, but you also have opportunity to share with others the work and impact that took place. Yes, you can share one on one as you meet and greet those in your own daily routine. But what a difference you could make in a more formal presentation of outreach of sharing and inspiration.

In giving a presentation, there are some points to keep in mind to help make your sharing time go smoothly and be effective.

  1. Focus on the Lord and what He is doing. Share what the Lord is doing in you and in the hearts and lives of the people (workers and those you served and ministered to). Keep in mind the work of the Lord is not about you, but it is all about Him and what He is doing. When you focus on the Lord, the Spirit moves and others will be touched, inspired and encouraged to join in the work to make an eternal and spiritual impact.
  2. Test all your equipment well in advance. Don’t assume it will work.
  3. Bring your own extension cords with multiple prong outlets. Check to make sure you have the right cord connectors. If you are using a laptop, have an electrical cord so not to run out of power during the presentation. Have correct cords for all devices and equipment.
  4. Use a microphone. To make it easy for the speaker as well as those listening, have a wireless handheld microphone with an amplifier.
  5. Have a cup or bottle of water nearby. Occasionally take a sip of water to keep your mouth and throat moistened for clear speaking.
  6. Handout. Have something prepared to give out in the form of possibly a handout, pamphlet, brochure, or notecard with your contact information along with your purpose for presenting.
  7. Collect contact information from those in attendance. It is a good idea to have a sign in sheet for people to fill out. This will give you a connection with them for any future contact.
  8. Document. Have someone take pictures or video the event.

These are just a few points to keep in mind when preparing for and making a presentation. Plan, prepare and think ahead to put forth a time of sharing with excellence.

May God bless your time of presentation and sharing that it would move and stir the heart of others to action that would bring honor to Christ Jesus.
