Dental Mission Supplies List

When planning on a dental mission, the following are the tools and supplies that we’ve found most useful.  Please add or delete as would be appropriate to your mission! 

Dental Items wish list

  • Adult toothbrushes
  • Children toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste  (travel sizes and regular sizes)
  • Dental floss
  • Mouthwash
  • Cups (disposable)
  • 2×2 non woven non sterile gauze
  • 1-1/2” cotton rolls
  • Face masks
  • Non latex gloves  (size small)
  • Anesthetic- Septocaine and Carbocaine 3%
  • Topical
  • Monoject needles 30ga short (blue)
  • **used water bottle labeled for “sharps”
  • Temporary cement:  IRM complete package (includes powder & liquid)
  • Mixing pad
  • Articulating paper
  • Cidex Plus –quart size (2)  **need to have brush to scrub instruments and containers for dirty and clean instruments.
  • Dish soap
  • brush
  • Clorox or disinfectant wipes
  • Towel to wipe instruments
  • Disposable gowns
  • Disposable napkins  with clips or can use clothes pins
  • Trash bag
  • Lined box or container for patient to  expectorate

Instruments:

  • Headlamp
  • Extra small flashlights to see (LED bright lights)
  • Syringes for anesthetic
  • Mouth Mirrors  (disposable is ok)
  • Explorer
  • Cotton Pliers
  • Spatulas
  • Plastic instruments
  • Excavators
  • Scalers / curettes
  • Sharpening stone
  • Elevators (sm, med, large)
  • Extraction forceps for upper and lower anteriors
  • Upper and lower molars
  • Upper and lower bicuspids
  • Pedo forceps
  • Saved small foam meat trays to use as dental tray.   Brought about 10
